We returned home from PAX East about a week and a half ago and what a PAX it was! It was the first for the GORGEOUS ROBOT as an official venture and it was glorious.
spent time working the Tin Man Games booth in the afternoons while Shaun made the rounds through the Indie MEGABOOTH talking to our fellow indies. I got a fantastic response to my gamebook Strange Loves: Vampire Boyfriends. A number of people bought the it over the weekend and came back to tell me how much they were enjoying it. It was also lovely to get to see the Tin Man again and we did our customary bacon breakfast, PF Chang's supper, and hotel lobby drinks.
haun and I wound our way throughout the convention floor as well. We saw a few games we are pretty excited about and we actually got to play a demo of Naughty Dog's The Last of Us. That exhibitor badge is handy when the wait is hours long every day. We hopped in line right before they opened to the general public on Sunday morning and were in the first batch of players. I won't lie, it was tough (I kept getting my throat torn out by zombies) but it was super scary and fun. I cannot wait until this game is released.
haun thought the PAX standout was WildStar an MMORPG that he said he'd lose me to if I started playing. I think we'll be hearing a lot more about it in coming months.
e also bought some new dice and minifigures for our new Dungeons and Dragons game, made a secret alliance with the owner of Geek Chic a gaming furniture shop that one day will furnish my house, and got up to no good with our good friends from Nerd Appropriate and Press 2 Reset.
My Foreplay: Romance in games panel went even better than I expected with a surprise guest: Raphael Sbarge, actor of Mass Effect and Once Upon a Time fame. He was a lovely addition to the discussion. Nerd Appropriate made it their post-PAX podcast so you can listen to us discuss romance in games to your heart's content.
Aside from all that, I manged to catch the worst cast of PAX POX I've ever had, thus the late post. Finally on the mend, I'm ready to start brewing some of the exciting ideas that came out of the con. Stay tuned... some cool stuff is coming down the pike.
Over and out,
P.S. In the pre PAX flurry I forgot to post that I was on the Reset Transmission podcast for the website Press 2 Reset again right before we all left for Boston. We talk a lot about PAX, women in games, and what I've been up to (including GORGEOUS ROBOT). Have a listen!
